Welcome to the Web site for ASIS&T SIG SI, the Special Interest Group for Social Informatics of the Association for Information Science and Technology. SIG SI brings together researchers who are interested in the social aspects of computerization, including the roles of ICT in social and organizational change, the uses of IT in social contexts, and the ways that the social organization of IT is influenced by social forces and social practices.

SIG SI’s 10th Annual Social Informatics Research Symposium: “Connecting (Epistemic) Cultures and (Intellectual) Communities” will take place on November 1st as part of the ASIS&T 2014 Annual Meeting in Seattle. Register for the symposium and conference on the ASIS&T 2014 web site.

This year we are celebrating a decade of successful and vibrant SIG SI research symposiums, and gather to celebrate a decade of intellectually challenging and engaging work in social informatics. The symposium will include presentations of research focusing on the question of understanding and analyzing connections between social informatics and cognate epistemic cultures and intellectual communities from a social informatics perspective. The symposium will also include presentations of the best social informatics paper awards for 2013. A full schedule for the symposium is now available. We expect an engaging discussion with lively interactions with the audience, and hope to see you there!
